Our
Ministry
We are missionaries with Africa Inland Mission (AIM), a
church planting mission organization with over 100 years
of history in Africa. Specifically, we work with two
different departments in AIM's service ministries:
AIM AIR, and On-Field
Media.
AIM AIR
is the aviation branch of Africa Inland
Mission. For more than a decade, we have had the
privilege to be part of a team of missionary families
serving other missionaries and Christian workers
throughout East and Central Africa. AIM AIR operates a
fleet of 12 aircraft, mainly based in Nairobi Kenya, to
meet the needs of people working in some of the region's
most remote locations. We use airplanes to get
missionaries to and from their places of calling, and to
move the stuff of missions and ministry that they need.
The people we serve and sustain are Bible translators,
doctors and nurses, church planters, evangelists,
agriculturalists, engineers, teachers & more...
people applying their skills and hearts to the growing of
God's kingdom in Africa.
Mike serves as a pilot and administrator
for AIM AIR. He mostly flies in a Cessna Grand Caravan,
throughout Kenya and into neighboring countries such as
Congo and Sudan. He also spends some nights away from
home each month at remote locations with the airplane.
One of the hallmarks of AIM AIR's ministry is keeping a
plane and pilot with a missionary who needs a few days at
a particular location. On "safari flights" like these,
Mike sometimes gets to serve in other ways like fixing a
truck or assisting with surgery, and, the most privileged
role of all, encouraging another missionary in a
difficult or isolated place.
Renee plays the part of encourager as
well, exercising her gift of hospitality to missionaries
passing through Nairobi, and supporting Mike amidst an
unpredictable, and stressful schedule. But Renee's main
role in ministry is perhaps more impacting (even if less
glamorous) than Mike's. She serves in the most
important place on earth – our home: schooling
Amelia and Zach and shaping a home that honors and
glorifies God.
On-Field
Media
(OFM) is a relatively new ministry in AIM. The OFM team
is a small group of missionaries who are tasked with
telling the stories of a mission organization that
encompasses 21 countries and over 800 missionaries. The
goal is simple: to declare God's glory
by capturing and communicating the stories of what God is
doing in Africa. Through writing, video production,
photography, web, and other creative arts, the team
serves AIM's international mobilizing offices with fresh
media content from the field while helping fellow
missionaries communicate their ministries to home
churches.
Mike helped establish the media ministry
for AIM, and now serves part time writing and
contributing with photography and video production.
